
Menassat for Research and Social Studies has been listed among the best think tanks that dealt with the Coronavirus pandemic according to the University of Pennsylvania through Lauder Institute reporting our institution amidst 63 international think tanks that contributed into the scientific and interpretive accompaniment of the universal pandemic which the world has known since March 2020. The list has included 63 think tanks dispersed over 37 countries. Hence, the Lauder Institute has received hundreds of studies that were universally conducted by research centres, but the report selected only 63 to be featured in the annual Pandemic Policy Advice Report due to the impact they have had on policy-making at an unprecedented time when the role of think tanks has been an indispensable need of the hour. However, Menassat study entitled : Moroccans and Covid : representations and practices has been able to earn a spot amid the most interesting conducted studies be it at the level of institutional actors or media attention that was attributed to it. The report adduced an abstract of the study and its main output as a model of the carried out researches in the MENA region.
Menassat research team has gone through a research phase around the pandemic impact on the print press on which a report will be soon published. In addition, it launched at the same time Jil’s program for Youth and Leadership that tends to train 20 young researchers on empirical research techniques in sociology to further exploit them in apprehending the reality of individual liberties in Morocco, discussing different issues related to youth, and their relation to the societal values. The program aims also at enhancing young researchers abilities and qualities through accompanying them alongside the different phases of conducting the researches so as to consolidate the culture of the rational understanding of reality based upon empirical data that could be useful in building a society that is open on reinsertion, difference, diversity and other acceptance.
It is worth mentioning that Lauder Institute pertaining to the University of Pennsylvania has already listed Menassat for Research and Social Studies among the 2020’s best New Think Tank on a report published at the end of January, 2021.
Menassat path comes to crown the institution second launching anniversary. The first anniversary coincided with being listed among the 2O2O’s New Think Tanks. Despite of the pandemic special conditions and precautions, Menassat has been able to launch important research programs as the one conducted in three phases around Moroccans representations on Covid that has been followed by primary output that were intriguing researchers and were subject to media coverage.
